Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our services

We proudly serve Fort Wayne and surrounding areas. Our delivery service area currently includes the following counties: Allen, Dekalb, Steuben, LaGrange, Noble, Whitley, Huntington, Wells, and Adams.

We deliver clean, organic cloth diapers to your door and pick up soiled ones on a regular schedule. All diapers are professionally cleaned and sanitized. We also offer Bambo Nature disposable diapers and combination (cloth + disposable) services. All diaper services are subscriptions to recurring delivery.

Our service includes delivery of clean, organic cloth diapers, pickup of soiled diapers, professional laundering, and all necessary supplies: Ubbi diaper pail, pail liner bag (doubles as delivery bag), 7 diaper covers (if needed), 7 boosters for nighttime extra absorption, 2 snappis if needed (modern/safer diaper pin), travel wetbag, organic cloth wipes, wipes solution in glass spray bottle (we use Balm Baby).

The number of diapers will depend on baby's age and weight; approximately 60-80 per week. Newborns have much more frequent changes than older babies and therefore will need a higher quantity. Rest assured, we will make sure you never run out!

No rinsing or dunking necessary! "Plopable poo should be flipped into the toilet if possible. Depending on the specific consistency in the diaper, this might not be possible. If its not practical, don't worry about it and just toss the diaper and wipes into the pail (this is why we chose the best odor containing diaper pail-from our trial participants' reviews). Did you know that you are supposed to dispose of solid waste from disposable diapers in the toilet, also?

Prefolds, Fitted, and Pockets/All-in-Ones: prefolds are wrapped around baby and secured with a Snappi. Cover goes over prefold. Fitteds don't need a Snappi, because their securement is the built in snaps. Fitteds also need a cover. Pockets are essentially an all-in-one, because we do all the stuffing. We also carry Bambo Nature disposable diapers. Pocket diapers are the most similar to disposables in that there is no preparation or folding; it is all one step.

Our prefolds are made from GOTS certified organic cotton. Our boosters and inserts are made from 55% hemp/45% certified organic cotton (boosters are to add absorbency to any type of diaper; inserts are the absorbency part of pocket diapers). Our fitted diapers are made of certified organic cotton. Our wipes are made of certified organic cotton flannel. Unlike most other diaper services in the country, we only offer organic cotton or hemp/organic cotton. We are committed to using only the best for your baby and for the planet.

Our pocket diapers are made from two materials: the inner liner that touches baby's skin is made from hemp/organic cotton blend. The outer waterproof layer is made from PUL (polyurethane laminate). Covers are made from PUL, also. PUL used to be made through less environmentally friendly methods. Nearly all PUL is now made through a much better thermal laminating process instead of with solvents. These waterproof parts are safe for baby and are not the inner part that touches baby's skin.

Each prefold or fitted service comes with 7 diaper covers per week; these get reused. The diaper cover gets wiped down in between changes and be reused until soiled. At home you can hand wash with mild soap and rinse, lay flat or hang to air dry only. If you send a diaper cover back for washing, you will receive the same number on the next delivery. Extra covers are available (see Add Ons) if you prefer to have more on hand. If you choose to wash covers at home, please be sure to follow care guidelines (cold or warm-NOT HOT! & line dry/lay flat to dry only-NO DRYER)

Hemp is an amazing fabric. It is naturally one of the most sustainable crops, using far less water than other crops and is a naturally disease and pest resistant plant, meaning that typical pesticides are not needed. It is already grown organically, hence the absence of organic certifications for hemp. Cotton is one of the least sustainable crops when not grown organically. The GOTS certification for cotton ensures that it is non-GMO, free from pesticides and harmful substances from farm to product. Pesticides in non-organic cotton can be retained in trace amounts in the cotton fibers themselves. With organic cotton, baby is never exposed to pesticides. Immaculate Diaper Service only uses organic cotton products. Hemp and cotton are historically some of the best fibers for absorption. Hemp is even thirstier than cotton but less soft, which is why most hemp fabrics are a hemp/cotton blend. Hemp also has the added benefit of being antimicrobial (germs don't like it).

Your diaper pail liner bag doubles as your delivery/pickup bag. Simply remove the bag full of dirty diapers from your pail, secure it with the snap at the top, and set on your front porch or other specified delivery/pickup location. Please have diapers sitting outside by 8am of your scheduled delivery day.

Currently, we are on a twice weekly schedule. You will be assigned days based on location: Mondays & Thursdays, Tuesdays & Fridays, or Wednesdays & Saturdays. If your delivery day falls on Christmas, Thanksgiving, or New Year's Day, your order will be delivered the next delivery day after the holiday. No deliveries on Sundays. You will be given extra diapers the delivery before, in order to ensure adequate supply.

We deliver no matter the weather (unless Snow Emergency prohibits delivery by law). If needed, we will place your delivery inside a weather bag. Our sustainable weather bags are made from renewable, plant-based materials, reducing your fossil fuel footprint. They are certified compostable, which means they'll quickly break down - both on composting piles and in commercial facilities. Keeping the weather away from your delivery without compromise!

Yes! Although the PUL used in our pockets and diaper covers is tested, safe for baby, and the most sustainably produced available, some mamas opt for 100% natural fibers. All cloth diapering is comprised of two parts: absorption and waterproofing. Absorption (cotton/hemp) soaks up the elimination, and the waterproofing keeps it contained, separate from baby's clothes. Wool is a great option for the outer/waterproof part, but intimidating for some. In the past, I have been very impressed with how wool works: rinse out with water, squeeze/roll to get the water out, and lay flat to dry. The urine turns to salt crystals; the wool, after drying contains no hint of urine. You only need two: one for use while the other is drying. Care of wool is specific. It needs to be lanolized periodically and washed with special wool soap once a month or sooner if soiled). Wool is naturally very antimicrobial. We plan to add wool diapers to our service very soon. There is a lot of information available online.

Diaper rash can get out of hand quickly! Natural fibers can actually help babies with extra sensitive skin--Many mamas report that cloth diapering helped reduce diaper rash and even eliminate it altogether! Do not use petroleum based ointments, as they can damage cloth diapers. We provide a diaper rash treatment package in Add Ons (service tab in main menu) that is delivered the next day. Our ointment is cloth diaper safe and healthy for baby (we carry Balm Baby Mad Rash-see product for ingredients and details). Any time an ointment is used, a liner must be used directly against the skin in order to protect the absorption capabilities of the cloth diaper. We will supply you with flannel liners made from certified organic cotton until you tell us that you don't need them anymore.

Please allow 1-2 weeks to prepare your first delivery. If inventory for your subscription is in stock, you might receive your first delivery sooner.

If lost, you will be given the opportunity to look for it. If it eventually cannot be found, you will have to replace the product. We track inventory with every delivery/pickup and document what we receive back from you, so you don't need to worry about it. For damaged items, those will have to be replaced and your account will be charged per item at retail value. Contact us for full details of replacement cost.

Even though we are a cloth diaper delivery company, we chose to carry disposable diapers, because we are realistic. Truthfully, we all lead busy lives. Being on the go might mean that sometimes you need the convenience of a disposable. Or maybe, not all caregivers are on the same page with cloth diapering. Offering the best option for disposables that have the least chemical impact on baby bridges that gap and fills that need.

From our research, Bambo Nature diapers are the best available option. There are a lot of claims out there about eco-friendly or baby friendly. It can be hard to sift through the "greenwashing" (misleading marketing tactics that portray a product as more sustainable than they really are). We searched for the best disposable diaper brand that had a proven track record and transparency. Bambo Nature has no perfumes, dyes, PFAS (forever chemicals), and all of the other endocrine and neurodevelopment disruptor chemicals. We are in the process of collecting all of the relevant, high quality research behind the claims about chemical exposure. Once collected, we will publish links in the blog & articles section of the "More" tab.

A liner is a thin, single ply, organic cotton flannel piece of fabric that goes against baby's skin. Anytime any ointment or cream is used on diaper area, a liner must be used.

Exclusively breastfed babies do not need liners, because their waste washes out easily. As baby's diet changes and solid food is added, the consistency will change. "Ploppable poo" should be flipped or tossed into the toilet. If the consistency just smears and is not ploppable, a liner should be used, because it lengthens the life of the diaper and prevents permanent staining. If we notice that your baby should use a liner, we will let you know. Liners are included in every delivery. Use your best judgement and contact us with any questions.

***We understand that baby's growth and development is a changing process, and we are here to help. Please use the liners if we request you to do so.

Call, text, chat, or email us to schedule an education session; this can be in-home/in-person, over the phone or virtual. If desired, it can coincide with first delivery of supplies and diapers. If you prefer a simple phone consultation, that option is available, also. Education session is typically only 10 minutes or so. If you feel that the setup is self-explanatory and don't want the education session, that is fine, too! Immaculate Diaper Service will continue to support you in any troubleshooting needs that may arise.

This section of our site is currently under construction and should be available by January 2026. We are in the process of collecting relevant, high quality articles and medical research related to the effects of exposure to specific chemicals that are found in most disposable diapers. That way, when someone asks you why you cloth diaper, you can let them know it's an evidence-based decision! We also hope to include articles and information on any relevant topics related to cloth diapering in the greater context of natural and healthy living.

Somewhat Lengthy Explanation: Our commercial grade washers are highly programmed for each step of the wash process. We use three products for the wash chemistry: an enzymatic detergent, an oxygen bleach and a sour/disinfectant. Autoinjectors ensure that the exact amount of each product is added at the right moment.

All products are safe for the waterways, completely biodegradable, no perfumes, dyes, no parabens, phthalates, NPEs (nonylphenol ethoxylate) or optical brighteners.

Enzymatic Breakdown: The enzymatic detergent biologically "digests" the proteins in feces and urine, which is more effective than simple surfactants at removing biological waste at a microscopic level.

Oxygen Bleach: Our oxygen bleach has some sanitization qualities, but is mainly used to lift stains. It is safe for baby and is an excellent alternative to chlorine bleach.

Multiple Rinse Cycles: Multiple rinse and extraction phases ensure that there is no residue.

True Sanitization: Unlike home routines that rely on hot water alone, our process is EPA-registered to kill 99.9% of bacteria (including C. diff spores, MRSA, SARS-CoV-2 and many other dangerous microbes) at lower temperatures, ensuring hygiene for diapers without boiling the fabric. The primary ingredient for the sour/disinfectant is peracetic acid (PAA), which breaks down into water, oxygen and acetic acid (vinegar). It also brings the pH of the wash down to the same level as skin, since all detergents, in order to work, must be alkaline. We test the pH of every load.

Our entire wash process is the result of extensive expert knowledge, thought, and evidence-based research. Our diaper service will give you the cleanest, freshest diapers possible, while still using FAR less water than at home. And you don't have to wash a thing!
